5 Reasons Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort is great for families!

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort is a Disney Vacation Club property available to the general public for booking.  I had a chance to visit, and was so impressed with their facilities and array of family activities. Here are 5 Reasons Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort is great for families!

1. Private Beach on Hilton Head Island

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort is actually located on the marsh side of the island. At first glance, this seems unusual, but Disney knew what they were doing! Fifteen acres of marshlands around this resort are protected areas, owned by Disney. This buffer gives a quiet, remote feel to the grounds. To get to the beach, there is an air-conditioned shuttle that regularly picks up guests, and drops them off at the Beach House, across the street. The Beach House sits on 3.5 acres of protected area. Here, you will find a large, private pool, a mile of private beach with chairs and umbrellas available, as well as an air-conditioned clubhouse, complete with all the amenities needed for a break from the sun.

2.Recreation Abounds

Because Disney owns the buffer around the resort, there are limitless activities for all ages.  For the younger ones there is a playground, mini-golf, and two kiddie-pools areas. Everyone can enjoy the pools, hammocks, grills, picnic tables, shopping (complete with Disney Parks Merch!!), and butterfly gardens. Older kids and adults can sign up for nature explorations on a wilderness hike through the marshes. The resort features daily scheduled recreation including crafts, kayaking, fishing, stories by the fire, ‘smores, games, and more! There is even a kids’ club if parents’ want to enjoy a date night together.

3. Relaxing Atmosphere

Again, due to Disney owning the buffer of protected lands around the resort (they knew what they were doing!), this resort is so quiet and relaxing! In the middle of summer, even with the resort completely booked, I was amazed by how quiet it was, even walking around the resort in the middle of the day. Every few feet on all the walkways there are benches, recreation areas and quiet places to sit and enjoy the natural surroundings of this resort. Beautiful Spanish moss adorns the majestic Oaks, and the sunsets over the marsh are exquisite.

4. Amazing Accommodations

Like all Disney-owned resorts, this one has families in mind. From spacious studios, to 3-bedroom Villas complete with full kitchens, families of all sizes can find the perfect place to stay together here.  Each room type has an outdoor space (porch or patio) and beautiful views of the marsh or resort. All room categories have accessible rooms, as well as accessibility around the resort and pool areas.

5. Disney Details

If you know Disney, you know their attention to detail. Whether their world-class customer service, or their spectacular theming, Disney knows what keeps families coming back! The Cast Members at this resort are exactly like those you would find at Disney Parks: kind, friendly, and willing to provide that extra “pixie dust”. The resort itself has a 1940’s Hunting/Fishing Lodge theme, and was purchased many years ago from a family who used the land for that purpose. From the rooms to the architecture, to the names of the restaurants and the family-themed lounges, the theming keeps this place feeling special and nostalgic from the moment you walk in.

It is easy to see why this amazing resort is consistently rated in the top 3 resorts in Hilton Head!
